Do you have a business in the polyurethane foam industry and struggle to manage the logistics of materials anditagli counterbalanced on sponge blocks? Does this result in low productivity for your business? There is only one solution, and it is called RotaDobe. This integration will allow you to turn your RAM horizontal shaping machine for sponge cutting into a mini cutting line.
Whether it is a continuous blade shaping machine (e.g. SLC EV), alternating blade (e.g. SPL EV), or abrasive wire (e.g. SFI EV), the result does not change: the RotaDobe system may still be present.
But what exactly does the RotaDobe do?
This integration allows the automatic cutting mode to be set up so that both the loading-unloading cycle and the entire block processing can be managed. Specifically, thanks to the RotaDobe configuration, once the incoming block has been loaded onto the machine it will automatically align and wait at the machine entrance until the processing on the previous block is completely finished. Convenient, right?
In fact, thanks to the smart alignment feature, you won’t need extra space outside the machine body to be able to align your blocks. Everything will happen on the machine itself!
- Next, the sponge block will advance toward the automatic cutting platform, while the previous block will move out.
- Finally, while the first block will have been unloaded at the output and the second will be being processed on the cutting platform, a third block can be loaded at the input to continue with the workflow.
In other words, it is a concatenated production process that could potentially repeat itself indefinitely, provided there is always input material.
Why is the rotating platform automatic in the RD cutting line?
The RD system is designed to increase productivity while making work faster and less tiring. The automatic rotary table allows counterbored cuts to be made without the need for operators to intervene to move the block. A counterbored cut consists of two consecutive cuts, on two different sides of the block, in order to achieve a three-dimensional result (see photo below).

The evolution of RotaDobe over time
- In 2004, the RotaDobe system was born. However, this model was still very different from the current one. In fact, although the work steps were identical, the work flow and timing varied considerably. In other words: alignment, loading, cutting, and unloading were four independent and consecutive steps, and none of them overlapped.
- In 2015, our team of technicians and engineers was able to launch a new and improved version. In fact, the RotaDobe II was able to align a second block at the machine infeed while the first block was being processed, thus reducing time and increasing productivity.
- But the biggest success concerning the RD system came this year. In fact, the RotaDobe III now allows three blocks to be handled at the same time: when block No. 1 is “parked” at the outlet, block No. 2 is cut, and block No. 3 is aligned at the machine inlet. In other words, the cutting phase of block No. 1 overlaps with the alignment phase of block No. 2, and the unloading phase of block No. 1 overlaps with the loading of block No. 2. This is why we talk in effect about a mini cutting line!
The RotaDobe is the ideal setup for automatically performing countershaped cuts and achieving 3D results.
